Changing the Size of a Pattern (10.01.2008)

Sometimes you may want another size for your block.
You can easily change the size of blocks to your needs by adjusting the page scaling in the printer settings of your computer or copier. Here is the formula:

(Desired size) / (Actual size) x 100 = percentage for scaling

Example: If you want to enlarge a block from its actual size of 6" to 8", you calculate:

8" / 6" x 100 = 133,33%

Small inaccuracies resulting from rounding off won't make a noticable difference.
You can adjust the size of quilting patterns and templates in the same way.
Just remember that changing the size of a pattern also changes the size of the seam allowances.

For your convenience, the formula is included in all my pdf-files.
