Paperpiecing:
Dealing With Light And Dark Fabrics (12.05.2008)
Usually you iron the seam allowances towards the darker fabric. When paper piecing, however, the order in which you sew a segment determines the direction of the seam allowances. You still want to avoid that a darker fabric's seam allowance is visible from the front, though. You can achieve this by making sure that the light seam allowance extends a bit beyond the dark one.
