This was my second Quiltmaker 100 Blocks Blog Tour

Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Vol.10

Once again did I have the luck and honor to see one of my blocks published in the well known US magazine Site in English Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks. My block is included in the Volume 10 issue, distribution date is mid-November. The magazine is published twice a year and includes 100 blocks each done by a different designer. This creates an exquisite and varied collection. By now a total of 1000 blocks have been published; that is a lot.

My block is - naturally - paper-pieced and a real trooper, revealing its specialty only when combined with itself.

One single block. Measuring 30 x 30 cm like all blocks in the magazine, it does not look special standing alone.

In connection with additional similar blocks and a slight variety in the center area, a woven effect starts to take shape which is reinforced with sashing done in a similar method.

And here is a view of my finished quilt in wallhanging size. I choose vibrant batiks which work well with a summer quilt. When the quilt was finished it reminded me of a fruity and cool dessert, hence the name "Coneflower Sherbet". A refreshing eye candy!

Enjoy additional images with details of the quilting at my to site gallery.

By the way, the top of the quilt was created during an afternoon sewing with friends; it was done much quicker that way.

When joining the blocks be aware that you need to use the to site partial seam method. It is a simple method and not complicated to sew.

The additional sashing strips are done similarly; you will just need to use some forethought. The quilt is currently in America and will be displayed from December 2014 on in the gallery of "Quiltmaker" in Golden, Colorado.
